Some Words About Fashion

Hey girls!

Cotillion season is upon us here at Stella M’Lia. Seeing all these beautiful girls in beautiful dresses is making us think about fashion and what that means to us. At Stella M’Lia, we are in full support of dressing up and being just a lil’ bit extra sometimes. Having fun with fashion allows you to express yourself while also looking nice, a 2-for-1 sort of deal, and we as girls (and guys) shouldn’t waste that.

For sure, athleisure and the ‘leggings and a hoodie’ look has its place (I’m a super big fan of that), but here, we also believe that girls don’t need a reason to look nice, and that comfort and style shouldn’t be mutually exclusive. You can catch me at my school wearing jeans, a t-shirt, and some Chuck Taylors one day, and wearing a leather jacket, some boots, and a dress the next. I’m in the middle of college applications and starting out my last year of high school ever, which is crazy and stressful, but that doesn’t mean that I need to dress like everyone else. Looking put together and unique makes me feel successful and like I’m making my mark on the world.

I wore a Stella M’Lia dress to junior prom this spring, and it felt good to be wearing something that wasn’t like anything anybody else was wearing. There were three girls in the same dress in different colors, but I wasn’t one of them. I was kind of unsure of my choice because it was so out of the box for me (It was blue and floofy, and I’m much more of an edgy dark colors girl), but I’m so glad I decided to switch it up. Wear what you want when you want, and don’t let anyone stop you.

Good luck this new school year, I know you all will do amazing!

Much love,

Cali

P.S. I attached some pics of me in my prom dress (a Stella M’Lia BETH in Bottle Green), which unfortunately isn’t for sale anymore, but dressing up and being original doesn’t have to look crazy or be ‘weird,’ you can try something new and still look beautiful and really classy!
